Onward

It’s hard to believe, but our stay on the outskirts of Dallas is nearly over. We move down the interstate to New Braunfels this Saturday. If it weren’t for wanting to get the monthly rate down there, and our “deadline” of getting home to St. Joe by the first of May, I’d like to stay [...]

Moving Again

We’ve waved good-bye to Niceville and Rocky Bayou, and we are on the way to Slidell, Louisiana tonight. It was a pleasant three-week stay but now the weather is starting to get a little warmer and we’re developing itchy feet. While we were there I got some great pictures at Puddenhead Lake on the state [...]

Rocky Bayou Redux

We have enjoyed our stay at the Fred Gannon Rocky Bayou State Park so much, that we’ve signed on for another week. So, we’ll be here until March 3rd, when we will start west, stopping in Slidell, Louisiana overnight before arriving at Chicot State Park, in just about the middle of the state. We haven’t [...]

Land of Enchantment

We’re driving across New Mexico on interstate highway I-40. The new AirCard is not getting much of a signal, but eventually web pages do load, usually. The router’s “Cellular Signal Strength” inicator has been stuck on one bar for a long time now. If you’re interested in the gory details, see my techie blog. In [...]

Waltzing (Slowly) Across Texas

One of the songs on my iPhone’s iPod app is by Willie Nelson, Waltz Across Texas (with You). We are going to get moving west again tomorrow, but for now we’re still south of Princeton, Texas, northeast of Dallas, at the same park we stayed at last year in the middle of Lake Lavon. We [...]

Big D

Right now we’re enjoying the warm sun in Princeton, Texas, just east of Dallas. It’s a welcome change from icy Louisiana, where we had to wait till afternoon to leave Friday morning because our water hose had frozen solid in the 23° F temperature! I didn’t know it got that cold in Louisiana, ever. Check [...]

Liquid Sunshine

Isn’t that what the Florida Chamber of Commerce calls this weather? At least it’s not hot and muggy. Chilly and muggy I can live with. Today was a bit of a pleasant surprise. Highway 98 took a sudden left in Perry, and when we saw the sign we were in the right lane, but there [...]

Bad Day

Yesterday was a disaster. It started out well enough. We got everything inside put away and secured, then went to put the car on the tow dolly. The road is loose gravel, so when I was driving it up onto the dolly I had to accelerate more than normal, just to avoid spinning the wheels. [...]

Going Home

We’re on the final leg (or next to last one, anyway) of our current migratory path. This trip, since leaving St. Joseph around the first of November, has covered about 4,500 miles and 10 states. We’ll be back in St. Joe next week, after stopping in Grove, Oklahoma. That’s a good midpoint between my aunt [...]

One more day

The wind has picked up, and the good folks at NOAA have issued a wind advisory for north Texas through Thursday night, so we decided to stay put for another day (and night). So, the plumbing problems in St. Joseph will have to wait. In the meantime, I’ve got work to do on the ISM [...]
