The New RV is Ours!
We did it!!
The Iowa dealer did in fact have a motor coach we liked, and a price we liked even better, so we bought it! We’ll take delivery late next week, probably Thursday. YAY!!!
In fairness to the very assiduous salesguy in Florida, there were some differences in the two coaches more substantial than just the colors. The one in Florida is on a Workhorse 24 with 8.1L 4-speed (or maybe a Workhorse 25.5 6-speed — it’s hard to tell from the literature) vs a Ford chassis with 6.8L engine and 5 gears (plus a “tow boost” setting), and the Florida dealer is more willing to make modifications than the one in Iowa. The one we did not buy has blue exterior paint (“Topaz Blue”), while the one we bought is grey (“Satin Steel”).

Both are Fleetwood Southwinds, model 37C, fully loaded with every accessory offered from the factory, and before we’re finished, we’ll add a few more. In fact, we plan to visit the Florida outfit next month when we get down there to have them do the mods we want: replacing the oven/cooktop with a drop-in range and dishwasher, maybe replace the sofa with a credenza and table & chairs, and possibly even replace the livingroom upholstry (dinette bench cushions and padded valence trim) with something more to my taste. But for a difference in price of about $12K, we can do lots of customizing, and still come out ahead.
