A New Year, a New Beginning
We are still in Florida, and will be here it appears for at least three more weeks. There are several reasons, mostly having to do with maintenance on the RV and ourselves, but nothing earthshaking, just stuff that has to get done. By late January we ought to be on our way to Texas and points west.
In the meantime, Florida is not the worst place to be “stuck”. Just today we saw a pair of bald eagles, one of which sat in a pine tree in front of the RV for awhile before flying away. They are both hanging around the area, though, so we may see them again. Here’s a portion of a photo I snapped of the one in the tree, and although it was a bad angle (you can only see its back with the head hidden by a branch), you can see it’s definitely a big bird.

I took this with my Nikon D50 digital SLR. It’s times like this when I wish I had a real telephoto lens, but at least this camera can use one so maybe someday I’ll spend the hundreds of dollars such a thing would cost. In the meantime, I took a screenshot of one of the images in Adobe® Bridge CS3, using the Bridge magnifier to show where the bird is sitting in the tree.
